“God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.”

from 1 Peter 5:5

In life, we often have a choice between the easy way and the hard way. Working with gravity and cutting with the grain make a difference, just as going with God rather than against him is the key message of this passage: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” C.S. Lewis described humility: "Not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less." Jesus is our prime example, humbling himself and submitting to the cross for us who have gone astray. Faith is lived by humbly living Jesus' prayer in Gethsemane: “Not my will but thy will be done.”
